Enjoy the experience! I know it can be stressful getting your family ready for the session. But, once you're in front of the camera, I hope to put you and your family at ease. We will start with some posed family shots when the kids are in good spirits. Then, we will take various combinations of photos. Just the kids, just the girls, just the boys, grandparents with grandkids, etc. I have a list in my head to make sure we capture it all. You can also let me know exactly what you are looking for when we chat prior to our photo session.
Photo sessions take place at a location of your choice. I have a list of my favorite places in Santa Clarita, Pasadena, and Los Angeles. I will email you location suggestions based on what you are looking for.
Some clients prefer to take photos at their home or in their backyard. It's completely up to you. I want you to feel comfortable anywhere.
The best time is in the morning, as early as possible. The early morning light is beautiful and children can often be at their best after a good night's sleep. Locations tend to be less busy at this time as well.
But, if your child's nap time is later in the day that's fine too! The most important thing is that they are happy.
Exactly what you feel comfortable in. Simple clothes tend to work best and avoiding logos and stripes is preferable. Layering works well for creating different looks and a change of outfit can be a good idea for very little ones.
I will contact you a couple of days before the shoot (after consulting the weather forecast). If it's going to rain, we can either reschedule or go ahead with the session. We can still get a fantastic variety of photos in
your home and your kids in wellies, jumping in puddles!
Yes! Upon arrival, I photograph all the beautiful details (tables, place settings, flowers, dessert table, etc.) before guests arrive. It's also a great time to get a family photo at the beginning of your party so you have time to enjoy yourself during the event. I will be sure to capture any highlights including toasts, speeches, etc. I will also ask groups of people to pose for photos in addition to capturing fun, candid moments. At any point, feel free to pull me aside for any photo requests. Some of my clients, will give me a list of people to photograph, while others give me a general idea of what is important to them.
